Daria Nicolodi, Star of Inferno, Dies at 70 – Hollywood Reporter

Her career spanned decades with nearly 40 acting credits to her name. 

Daria Nicolodi, the Italian actress and screenwriter who appeared in such cult classics as Deep Red and Inferno, has died, according to her daughter, Asia Argento. She was 70.

A cause of death was not given.

“Rest in peace beloved mother,” Argento wrote on Instagram along with pictures of the two. “Now you can fly free with your great spirit and you won’t have to suffer anymore. I will try to go on for your beloved grandchildren and especially for you who would never want to see me so grieved.”

She continued, “Even if without you I miss the ground under my feet, and I feel I have lost my only true point of reference. I am close to all those who have known and loved her. I will always be your Aria, Daria.”

Nicolodi was born on June 19, 1950, in Florence, Tuscany, Italy. Her career spanned decades with nearly 40 acting credits to her name. Along with appearing in such classics as Deep Red and Inferno, Nicolodi starred in 1977’s Shock, which marked the final film of Italian horror auteur Mario Bava.

Nicolodi had a romantic relationship with director Dario Argento, whom she met in 1974 during the production of Deep Red. The couple had one child, Asia Argento.

Nicolodi is survived by her daughter and granddaughter.
